„Gestiegene Zinsen belasten die Branche der erneuerbaren Energien“

Investments in Unternehmen, die auf grüne Energieerzeugung spezialisiert sind, wiesen im Jahr 2023 starke Verluste auf. Dies wirft bei Anlegern viele Fragen auf. Guido Hoymann von Metzler Capital Markets gab seine Einschätzung dazu am 11. Dezember 2023 im Podcast „Handelsblatt Today“.

Der Experte im Bereich erneuerbare Energien nennt die hohe Kapitalintensität der Branche und in diesem Zusammenhang die gestiegenen Zinsen als einen Grund für das relativ schwache Abschneiden. Zusätzlich führt er „erhebliche handwerkliche Fehler“ bei Branchen-Schwergewichten wie Siemens Energy oder Orsted an. Diese trugen zu einer gesteigerten Skepsis auf dem Markt bei.

Besonders „das Thema Wasserstoff ist sehr stark entzaubert worden“. Der Umstieg auf eine Wasserstoffökonomie braucht lange Zeit. Das liegt auch daran, dass eine beinahe komplett neue Infrastruktur aufgebaut werden muss. Beispielhaft nennt Hoymann das sogenannten Kernnetz für die Wasserstoffverteilung in Deutschland, das im Jahr 2032 fertiggestellt werden soll. Solche Zeiträume verschrecken viele Investoren.

Trotz der aktuellen Herausforderungen bleibt Hoymann optimistisch: „Der Prozess wird unaufhaltsam weitergehen“. Wasserstoff wird zur Speicherung und dem Transport von grünem Strom benötigt wie auch für die grüne Fertigung von Stahl und wichtiger chemischer Produkte. Die Wind-Branche scheint endlich existenzsichernde Preise und Vertragsbedingungen am Markt durchsetzen zu können. Solarstrom ist ohnehin bereits heute konkurrenzlos günstig.
