ntv-Interview: Luxusgüter und Nachhaltigkeit – (k)ein Widerspruch

Nach einem Umsatzeinbruch während der Corona-Pandemie hat sich der Luxusmarkt zuletzt erholt. Aber in einer Welt knapper werdender Ressourcen stellt sich die Frage, ob Luxusgüter und Nachhaltigkeit nicht im Widerspruch stehen.

Im Gespräch mit Friedhelm Tilgen von ntv beleuchtet Daniel Sailer, Head of Sustainable Investment Office bei Metzler Asset Management, diese Frage aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln. So können High-End-Güter allein durch ihre meist längere Gebrauchsdauer schon einen Pluspunkt in Bezug auf Nachhaltigkeit sammeln. Zudem nutzen Unternehmen aus dem Luxus-Segment häufig das ihnen aufgrund der höheren Verkaufspreise zur Verfügung stehende Kapital, um die Forschung voranzutreiben – beispielsweise für eine nachhaltigere Produktion oder die Entwicklung alternativer Rohstoffe. Solche Innovationen können sich häufig in der Breite durchsetzen und werden auch in anderen Preissegmenten und Branchen zum Standard.
