Debt advisory, structuring capital
As a consequence of the continuing sovereign debt and financial crisis and the introduction of "Basel III", the agenda at many banks is dominated by the need to reduce risk-weighted assets further or withdraw from certain areas of business. This results in far more cautious and selective lending decisions and a foreseeable deterioration in the terms offered to borrowers. Alternative sources of finance will therefore play a growing role in corporate financing – alongside conventional bank loans, which have traditionally been the main source of corporate funding in Germany.
Metzler Corporate Finance acts as a "door opener", providing access to alternative sources of financing outside the banking sector through its own network and international cooperation partners. This enables us to play a constructive role in strategic efforts to diversify the financing base, especially at SMEs. Alternative sources such as promissory notes and private placements in the US can be tapped with our assistance.
